Spring 2013 Trends – Part One

23 Feb

It has been an exciting and very busy week!  I was honored to be the guest speaker for a Women’s Ministry Retreat this past weekend at Carson Springs Retreat Center in Newport, TN and was able to spend three days with some wonderful, beautiful women from Manley Baptist Church out of Morristown, TN.  If you are planning a retreat for your women’s group and are looking for a speaker on Fashion and Faith, I hope you will keep me in mind.

After spending the week before in Tampa, FL for Christian Fashion Week and enjoying the high 70’s weather, it has definitely put me in the mood for Spring!  I am really getting excited about seeing some of the bright colored spring fashions in the stores now as they are starting to come in.

Last month I was invited to attend the Belk Spring 2013 Fashion Tour in Charlotte, NC and was privileged to hear firsthand about the newest trends for this Spring season.  I am going to share with you five of the top ten “most wanted” trends in this week’s post and the other five with you next week.  If you have been shopping recently you may have already started to see some of these trends in the stores.  (All of these come from Belk Department Store)

Sassy Skirt-

Polished and figure flattering, the skirt is a spring staple. Full, flounced or a-line, this pick is feminine and fashionable.

Something Lacy-

Sweet and sophisticated, effortlessly elegant, lace is easily one of spring’s most elegant essentials.

Fancy Pant-

Sleek and slim or full and flowy, the patterned bottom will definitely raise the cool quotient of your spring wardrobe. Be dazzled by beautiful brocades and breathtaking jacquards. (If you remember the pants I wore at CFW, they were of this trend!)

Spring Jacket-

Call it a comeback.  The jacket has re-emerged as an all-important trend piece. Blazers, boxy and sporty bring a casual sophistication.

Novelty Knit-

In lively prints or simple solids, trend-right knits have a knack for easy wear and easy care. New shapes and refreshed finishes call the shots.

You looked great for fashion week but I absolutely HATE those patterned pants that are the trend for spring and I hope those with a D-Body Type will avoid them. My daughters-in-law are both gorgeous and they don’t like them either. They are a throwback to the ’80’s. Love blazers and jackets. I don’t think they ever go out of style. Great blog Donna.
